Opportunity Overview

A healthcare facility is seeking independent Environmental Services contractors through a staffing connector network. The staffing company serves only as a referral and matching intermediary and does not employ, supervise, or direct work performed at the facility.

This opportunity is structured as a 1099 independent contractor engagement between the contractor and the facility.


Role Summary

Independent contractors provide environmental cleaning and sanitation services in a healthcare setting to support infection control, patient safety, and facility readiness.

Services occur in clinical and non-clinical areas and are based on facility operational needs and room availability.


Types of Services May Include

Contractors may be engaged for the following types of environmental services:

Clinical Area Cleaning

  • Operating room turnover cleaning between patient uses
  • Terminal cleaning of procedure and operating rooms
  • Procedure room sanitation and preparation
  • PACU and patient bay cleaning and disinfection

Non-Clinical Area Cleaning

  • Cleaning of hallways, restrooms, lobbies, and shared spaces
  • General sanitation of public-facing areas within the facility

Infection Control Support

  • Use of healthcare-grade disinfectants and cleaning procedures
  • Compliance with CDC and OSHA environmental cleaning guidelines
  • Waste removal and disposal according to facility protocols

Floor & Surface Maintenance

  • Routine hard floor cleaning and maintenance as needed
  • Periodic floor buffing/burnishing (generally not more than monthly)
  • Periodic carpet cleaning in non-clinical areas (typically every 3–4 months or based on condition)

Qualifications

  • Prior experience in environmental services, janitorial work, or healthcare cleaning preferred (2–3 years ideal)
  • Experience in hospitals, clinics, dental offices, or laboratories is a plus
  • Familiarity with OSHA Bloodborne Pathogen standards preferred
  • Ability to follow infection control and sanitation procedures in healthcare environments
  • Physical ability to perform cleaning tasks in clinical settings

Independent Contractor Structure

  • Contractors operate as independent businesses
  • Contractors may accept or decline service opportunities
  • Contractors may work with multiple clients or facilities
  • Contractors determine how services are performed within required safety and facility standards
  • No employment relationship exists with the staffing company or facility

Work Environment

  • Healthcare clinical and non-clinical facility environments
  • Exposure to cleaning chemicals and regulated medical waste (PPE provided per facility protocol)
  • Physical activity required, including standing, lifting, bending, and movement throughout facility spaces
  • Service timing may vary based on facility operational needs and room availability

Compensation

  • Compensation is negotiated and determined prior to acceptance of any engagement
  • Payment is issued for completed contracted services under mutually agreed terms
  • No wage, salary, or employee compensation structure applies

About the Staffing Connector

The staffing company facilitates introductions between independent contractors and healthcare facilities. It does not:

  • Employ contractors
  • Control scheduling or work methods
  • Guarantee work volume
  • Direct performance or supervise services
